Sheila Martindale was born and educated in England. She came to Canada in 1966, settling in Montreal, where she became co-founder of the Montreal Poets’ Information Exchange. She moved to Ontario in 1977. From 1982-1997,she was Poetry Editor for Canadian Author. She is the author of eight books of poetry, one play, hundreds of book and theatre reviews, and articles published across the continent. Portraits and Still Life, her most recent collection of poetry, was published in 2004. In 2005, she recorded No Greater Love, a CD of the poems from an earlier book,now out of print. She lives in rural Elgin County with her husband Ron and a variety of animals.
